The Chicago Transit Authority expanded its partnership with ZeroEyes, rolling out advanced AI gun detection technology on even more CTA cameras to boost rider safety across the city.
Following the program’s initial rollout, which helped facilitate several arrests, the CTA board approved broadening the deployment from 250 to 1,500 cameras by mid-2026.
This decision reflects the Authority’s commitment to proactive rider safety and comes after public discussion of the technology’s positive impact in providing real-time firearm alerts and supporting swift law enforcement response across the transit system.
