Rep. Richard Hudson Joins ZeroEyes at UNC Greensboro for Live Demonstration of Gun Detection Technology Protecting Campus
Visit highlights how UNCG pairs existing security cameras with human-verified detection to spot brandished firearms in seconds

GREENSBORO, N.C. — U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) joined ZeroEyes executives and UNC Greensboro (UNCG) Police leadership today for a live demonstration of ZeroEyes’ gun detection technology, which UNCG uses across its campus as part of its public safety strategy.
During the visit, ZeroEyes walked through how the platform connects with UNCG’s existing camera network to identify brandished firearms. When a possible threat is detected, it is reviewed by ZeroEyes’ 24/7 operations center, staffed by U.S. military and law enforcement veterans, before an alert goes to campus police with the location, a still image and a description of the threat. The demonstration showed that process in real time, from detection to verified alert in seconds.

“Thank you to the ZeroEyes team and UNCG Police for showing me this technology firsthand,” said Rep. Hudson. “ZeroEyes helps detect visible firearms and alert authorities quickly, without using facial recognition or going after law-abiding gun owners. I’ll always work in Congress to keep our schools safe and support our law enforcement officers.”
“Congressman Hudson has been a strong voice for school safety, and we’re grateful he took the time to see our work up close,” said Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes. “We created ZeroEyes to close the gap between a gun appearing on camera and police knowing about it. That is how we save lives. UNCG has made that early warning part of how it protects its campus, and we’re proud to support that work.”
ZeroEyes was founded by U.S. Navy SEAL veterans after the 2018 Parkland school shooting with a goal of closing the gap between the moment a gun first appears and the moment first responders know about it.
Today ZeroEyes protects more than 4,000 schools, along with the Department of War, hospitals, houses of worship, and countless commercial and government facilities nationwide.
